On Monday, 26th August 2024, Electrochem Ghana Ltd proudly launched its Community Out-Growers Scheme at the company’s premises in Sege. This groundbreaking initiative is set to further enhance the company’s commitment to sustainable community development, positioning local residents at the heart of Ada’s thriving salt production industry.

What is the Out-Growers (Tributor) Scheme?

The Out-Growers (Tributor) Scheme is a transformative program designed to integrate local communities into the salt production value chain. By empowering community groups to participate in regulated small-scale salt mining activities, the scheme aims to uplift the economic standing of community members while ensuring that all operations are conducted in an environmentally sustainable manner, aligned with global best practices.

The Unveiling & Handing Over Ceremony

The official launch featured the unveiling of the Out-Growers Scheme plaque, marking the formal introduction of the program. A key highlight was the presentation of site plans to seven community groups that signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Electrochem Ghana Ltd. These groups include:

– Ada Women Salt Miners Association (Yikatseme)

– Ada Youth Forum for Development (Ada East & West)

– Kakepeme Salt Miners Association

– Terkpebiawe Youth Association

– Songornya Salt Producers Association

– Ada Communities Chiefs Association
